How to Write a Blog Post in 12 Steps to Get More Traffic for Your Blog

The blogosphere is a vast, ever-expanding universe that can be explored in many different ways.

The easiest way to start is by writing your own blog. Blogging allows you to share your thoughts and experiences with others who have similar interests or concerns.

But what’s even better about blogging is that it has the potential to make you money – either through advertisements on your blog or by selling it outright. So how do you get started? Here are 12 steps for writing a successful blog post that will help you maximize traffic and turn readers into buyers!

1. Decide what you’re going to write about

It all starts with having a topic in mind. You need to decide what your blog post is going to be about because once it’s done there’s no changing it!

A good place to start is by searching for popular topics that relate to your niche. These are things that people have already shown an interest in, so you’re likely to find more traction with them than topics that are entirely off the beaten path.

2. Write your blog post

Now that you know what you’re going to write about, it’s time to get down to the business of actually writing the post.

The first thing you want to do is open up your favorite blogging platform and use [insert the name of a popular blogging platform] to create a draft for your blog. Make sure that it’s not too long, but also make sure that you haven’t left out anything important!

Once you’re happy with your draft, it’s time to begin proofreading. Look for spelling and grammatical errors so that you don’t look unprofessional.

Next, you want to make sure that each section of your blog starts with a heading in WordPress that lets readers know what they’re about to read. H3-style headings are the best for this.

A content calendar will help you plan for blog posts so that your readers know what they can expect from you in the future.

Think of things for which you have a recurring topic, like quarterly or monthly reports, and blog about those topics regularly!

With a content calendar all planned out, it’s easier to plan when you’re going to write blog posts and schedule them in advance!

5. Choose an SEO-optimized title

Choosing the right title for your blog post is crucial if you want people to read what you have to say.

You can use tools like Google AdWords keyword planner or the Keyword Planner feature in Optimizer Plus to find out which keywords people are searching for that relate to your blog post.

6. Write an attention-grabbing introduction

Once you have written your first draft of the blog post, it’s time to focus on the introduction!

Start your introduction with a short and catchy sentence that tells people a bit about what they can expect from reading the blog. You should also in this section include a link back to one of your older posts for context, but only do so if you have space!

The introduction is also the place to put any enticing questions at the end to keep readers reading!

7. Include lots of persuasive calls to action

If you’re trying to get people interested in a product or service, then you need to include a call to action that will make it easier for them to do so!

A call-to-action is an instruction for the reader to do something, like going to your website and signing up for updates.

You can also use persuasive words that encourage people to act quickly, such as now or immediately!

8. Write a call-to-action in your conclusion!

The last thing you want in your blog post is a boring conclusion!

After all the great information that you have already included, you should also include something to let your readers know how they can continue learning about your topic.

This is a great place to include a call-to-action encouraging them to visit your website or contact you!

9. Add lots of internal links and external links

Internal links are those that link to other areas of your own blog.

You want these to be relevant and useful, so don’t just link everything back to the content you published on your homepage!

This will help readers navigate from one post to another if they want more information about a particular topic or want to learn more about the same topic.

External links are those that point to other websites, like an article or blog post you found interesting!

10. Make sure that your blog is easy to read

As a journalist and avid reader of articles online, I have seen my fair share of poorly written content published on the internet. It’s easy for a good writer to become lazy and not proofread their blog post.

Find at least one friend who is willing to read your draft of the article, even if they don’t have anything helpful to say about it! It will give you an extra set of eyes and keep you from making careless mistakes that are obvious to someone who isn’t used to reading things online! While you’re at it, ask them what they think could be improved upon and consider their suggestions the next time you publish an article!

11. Choose high-quality images for your blog post

It can be tempting to use free stock images that are available online, but it’s not worth the headache that comes with them.

For one thing, they may include distracting watermarks. If you’ve ever used a free image before, you probably know exactly what I mean!

Another issue is that you won’t be able to use images for whatever purpose you want to!

Sometimes images are licensed for commercial use, which means that you won’t be able to publish them on your site or blog unless you purchase a license yourself.

Instead of using free stock photos, try visiting sites like Unsplash or Pexels, which offer high-quality images that can be used freely for personal and commercial purposes!

12. Make sure your blog post is SEO-friendly!

There are over 200 ranking factors Google uses to determine where a website will appear in search engine results, but there are some that apply specifically to blog posts.

You want to make sure that you’re using keywords appropriately in each section of your post, but don’t go overboard – overdoing it can actually be harmful to your ranking!

One common mistake bloggers make is putting all of the content into H1 tags. This is okay sometimes, but if you want to use an H2 or H3 tag as well it will not have any negative effects on your article.

It’s also helpful to include some internal linking where appropriate so that readers can continue to other blog posts if they like what you’ve written!

To write a successful blog post, you need to create content that is interesting and captivating. If it’s not well-written or researched enough, no one will want to read your article!
